History of Footprint Days

The Glenmore Footprint Days were introduced to our school in 2009 by Nicole Kleemaier-Raaijen. As a Dutch citizen, she did not re-invent this event, but simply shared part of her culture with us. In the Netherlands, this event happens on a yearly basis: almost all cities and schools are involved with the organization and for four days in a row you will see hundreds of children, adults and seniors taking over the streets. Most children will walk about 10 km each evening and the adults up to 25 km a day. Even more, there is one massive event that takes place in Nijmegen each summer where this year again 47,000 people will be walking 30, 40 or 50 km a day! Translated, it is called the Four Days Marches.

Help make the walks awesome

Check the calendar for upcoming events.

The Glenmore Footprint Days were started to encourage the children of our school and their parents, siblings, grandparents and friends to walk and have fellowship. It is a great way to meet the members of our Glenmore Families and to get to know the children with whom our children are hanging out each day.   Every year we look forward to seeing a bunch of children and adults happily chatting and walking the streets of Glenmore on our daily trek of 5 km. We are proud that this year will be the 16th time that our school organizes this!

We encourage everyone to come out in their GME Family Grouping/Spirit Wear shirts to add to that sense of togetherness.
